SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) that measures service organizations' controls and safeguards. Of particular relevance to datacenter clients are the assurances that facility controls are in place, which can help them meet other industry-specific regulations they may be facing.
"Many datacenter clients have their own sets of regulations to deal with such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), or others. Phoenix NAP's SAS 70 report contains a series of physical, environmental and managerial controls based on the commonly-used COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations) framework.
Phoenix NAP will initiate and complete its SAS 70 Type II audit following six months of operation.
